Sara Saljoughi is a writer and Assistant Professor of English and Cinema Studies at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on aesthetics and politics in world cinemas. Her interests are in critical theory, feminism, and postcolonial studies. Her essays appear in Camera Obscura, Feminist Media Histories, Film International, Film Criticism, Iranian Studies, Iran Namag, and Jadaliyya, and in numerous anthologies. She is co-editor of 1968 and Global Cinema (Wayne State University Press, 2018).

Most recently, Professor Saljoughi was a Mellon Early Career Fellow in the Jackman Humanities Institute’s Aesthetic Education project. She is the recipient of SSHRC, Andrew W. Mellon, American Council of Learned Societies, Social Science Research Council, and other fellowships.

In addition to her scholarly research, she has written for TIFF, the Walker Art Center, The Institute of Contemporary Arts, The Millions, and other venues.
